Kitab 2 Tawarikh pasal 12 dan 13
2 Tawarikh 12 menceritakan bagaimana Rehabeam dan seluruh Israel meninggalkan hukum Tuhan setelah kerajaannya kuat. Sebagai hukuman, Tuhan mengizinkan Sisak, raja Mesir, untuk menyerang Yerusalem dan merampas kekayaan dari bait Tuhan dan istana raja. Namun, ketika Rehabeam dan para pemimpin Yehuda merendahkan diri, Tuhan memberikan kelepasan dari penghancuran total, meskipun mereka tetap harus menjadi hamba Sisak. Rehabeam tetap memerintah di Yerusalem selama 17 tahun, tetapi pasal ini mencatat bahwa ia melakukan kejahatan karena tidak menetapkan hatinya untuk mencari Tuhan.
Pasal 13 menceritakan tentang Abia, putra Rehabeam, yang memerintah Yehuda selama tiga tahun. Abia terlibat dalam perang melawan Yerobeam, raja Israel Utara, dengan pasukan yang jauh lebih kecil. Namun, Abia bersandar pada Tuhan, mengingatkan Israel tentang perjanjian Tuhan dengan Daud dan mengecam Yerobeam yang telah memberontak melawan Allah. Dalam pertempuran itu, meskipun dikepung dari depan dan belakang, Yehuda berhasil mengalahkan Israel, Abia semakin kuat dan merebut beberapa kota dari Yerobeam. Rehabeam mengalami hukuman karena meninggalkan Tuhan, tetapi diberi kelepasan saat ia merendahkan diri. Sebaliknya, Abia memperoleh kemenangan besar atas musuhnya karena ia bersandar pada Tuhan dan mengikuti perintah-Nya. Ini adalah pengingat bahwa keberhasilan dan perlindungan sejati hanya datang ketika kita mengarahkan hati kita kepada Tuhan dan setia pada-Nya.
